With a 5:30 AM wake-up call in Vancouver, and just under two hours later, we arrived at the Abbotsford Tulip Festival with special morning photo passes in-hand. We had the perfect day - after weeks of rain, and hit-and-miss weather, we woke up to a beautiful morning, perfectly timed, at the height of the festival's blooms. Everything was a complete riot of colour, and Sandra, Lisa and I made good use of it!
I believe the festival is done now, but if you're thinking of heading out there next year, wear sensible footwear, or at least be prepared to get muddy! The paths were well-trampled, and because of the rain on previous days, we all left pretty messy (but happy).
I really had a lot of fun with these two, and it's really a blessing when you have a playful couple, who make each other laugh so easily! We were all completely in awe of this place, and all the crazy colours and varieties of tulips.
Because we made the trek out early, the only other folks there were a handful of other photographers, mostly just photographing the flowers, leaving us plenty of room to play, and intimate looking photos of a seemingly empty tulip field that you could not get at any other time of the day.
And can I tell you how much I love Sandra and Lisa's matching rings? They're delicate, sparkly and perfect! I can't wait to shoot their wedding later this summer, I know it's going to be a fantastic day, and I look forward to sharing it with them. ♥
