I'm lucky to be able to call this punk rock couple my friends. Krystal and I met a few years back via a mutual all-consuming life choice: roller derby. (Can you tell from her tattoos?!) We were super excited to get drafted to the same team, which was incredibly unlikely to happen, and spent a few seasons playing for Terminal City Rollergirls' Riot Girls.
We've both moved on from roller derby these days, and for Krystal that has coincided with a new fiancé, and a baby on the way! It's been amazing to watch her relationship with Johnny flourish, and I'm so excited for these expecting parents. <3
We decided to start the photoshoot off in a pretty famously graffitied spot in East Vancouver, which was pretty fitting for their rock and roll style. Johnny brought his dog Graveyard along, she's the sweetest thing, and you can tell she just adores him. For the second half of the shoot, we headed out to the dog beach at Spanish Banks Beach, to sneak in some fun time for Graveyard, and also capture the amazing mountains and cityscapes of Vancouver in the background.
I can't wait to spend some more time behind the lens with this off-beat bride and groom-to-be, and I bet next time there'll be motorcycles involved...but we'll have to wait until 2018!
